Spring Was Here!

Current Location: Fort Toulouse Campground, Wetumpka, Alabama

We’re still around. Just haven’t posted for a couple of days. Nothing ground-breaking happening with us.

The title of the post is “Spring Was Here” since it has turned rather cool again. However, this weekend promises to be really nice (as well as the following week), so maybe I was just a week too early on that proclamation.

We continue to have problems with birds trying to nest under our kitchen slide. The first attempt at a resolution involved lining the space with double-sided carpet tape on the theory that birds won’t like the sticky surface and move on. It appeared to be working for a few days, but I think it was more because the birds just hadn’t found the space again. There was a good start of a nest there this afternoon.

We stopped by Lowe’s and picked up a package of 3/4″ thick foam sheets that we’ll use to make up a block to stick under the slide to fill up the space. We’ll just have to remember to pull it out each time we move and stow it somewhere. I figure we can stick a pool noodle on the corner of the slide to remind me to pull out the foam block before we pull in the slides to move.

We also looked at tiles to use for backsplashes in the kitchen and bathroom – a project that has been simmering for a while now. We’re trying to find just the right tiles to use. We had looked at some plastic backsplash material, but really like the look of the glass, ceramic and stone tiles. We found some that were fairly light and have seen that there are sticky sheets that allow you to mount the tiles on the wall without using thinset or other typical mounting methods. We’ll see.
