Current Location: Vacationer RV Park, El Cajon, California
This morning, we took our time crawling out of bed. We both slept great after walking for hours around Disneyland the California Adventure parks. We wandered downstairs in the hotel for breakfast and decided the big restaurant with the buffet had too long of a line for our hungry stomachs, so we went next door to the almost empty quick service spot. The breakfast there, though limited in nature, was excellent and cooked to order. It was a wise move.
While at breakfast, Malcolm called to arrange a horseback ride. We decided to set it up for 1:00 so we could drive up and have lunch before the ride, since it was a long ride (3 hours).
After breakfast, we loaded everything in the car and decided to walk to Downtown Disney. It is primarily just shopping, but we had fun wandering through the stores, and it was a relaxing way to spend late morning. We headed back to the car and pointed it north towards Burbank for lunch and a horseback ride. We hadn’t quite planned on the amount and speed of the traffic.
As we got to the area of the horseback riding place, Rocken P Outfitters, it was nearly time for our ride, so no time for lunch. We went on over, paid our fee and waited to get saddled up. Our guide for the ride, Dave, is an easterner like us. He originally lived in the Cincinnati area. The three of us were the only ones on our particular ride, so it was very relaxed and we got a lot of chatting in.
We rode all the way up the hills in Griffith Park to view the Hollywood sign. The whole ride took about 3 hours and 20 minutes. We were both wobbly when we dismounted back at the stables. For people that don’t ride too much, we held up rather well.
On the way out of town, we stopped by the Triple R boarding stables and found our friend Erin there cleaning up her horse, Beatrix, after her ride. We chatted for a while, said our goodbyes, then headed on down the road back to El Cajon and our home. It was a tiring, but fun weekend.
