Current Location: Sky City Casino RV Park, Sky City, New Mexico
We’re in travel mode for a few days now, so we’re not aiming for destinations in order to go sight-seeing. We decided to just travel today until we got tired. We actually ended up with a short-ish day at 300 miles.
The scenery was pretty flat and almost boring for a while through Arizona, then a lot of mesas started rising up on either side of us as we got close to the New Mexico border.
The only big excitement today was one of the tire pressure sensors on the truck (left, outside dually) showing only 50 psi (instead of 70). Malcolm pulled over, unscrewed the sensor, checked the pressure manually (72 psi), reseated the battery in the sensor and re-installed it. Back to normal. The same tire was showing as not picking up a signal as we were pulling out this morning, but later showed a signal. Might have just been a battery connection.
Lunch was at a rest area at the New Mexico border. Though the rest area didn’t have any outside tables, they did have a nice area inside with tables, vending machines and even a microwave oven. It was nice.
While looking for a location to stay at or before Albuquerque, we kept seeing signs for an RV park at the Sky City Casino. The signs advertised a $20 rate, which is correct. With Good Sam discount, we ended up at $18. It’s not a bad park. Full hookups, wi-fi and cable TV.
We wandered down to the casino and ate dinner in the restaurant. Malcolm had the buffet (fajitas and tacos) and Val had the club sandwich. The sandwich was huge. We’ll be splitting the leftovers for lunch tomorrow on the road.
We sat outside at our site as the sun set this evening. There are several wild lavender bushes growing on the island between our site and the next one. It smells wonderful.
Found quite a few license plates today – 29 of 51.
Still enjoying your blog. It reminds me that I am not the only crazy person in the world. We are still on the Oregon coast but will start traveling again soon spending the month of September on the road more or less headed for home. I guess we better start figuring out a route. We only have a few stops planned so far and they will actually put us a few more miles from home.
Keep you travels fun and safe,
The Random Rover.
