Back to Texas

Current Location: Bluebonnet Ridge RV Park & Cottages, Terrell, Texas

Today’s drive was short enough that we didn’t even eat lunch until after we got set up here in Terrell, Texas. We rolled out of Oklahoma City after 8:00 AM and were checked into the park here around 1:00 PM. We decided to stop here in Terrell to visit our Heartland friends Erika and Tony Dorsey. They recommended the park which wasn’t exactly on our way from Oklahoma City to Round Rock, but when you are full-time, sometimes things aren’t out of the way as much as a new adventure.

After we ate lunch and relaxed for a bit, the Dorsey’s came over to visit and talk at the trailer. Then we rode in their car with them to do some local sight-seeing. Our first stop was Ham’s Orchards. Today was the last day they are open for the year. We picked up a bag of peaches, a bag of apples and a jar of corn relish. We also enjoyed some of their peach soft-serve ice cream (Val had strawberry).

After our ice cream treat, Tony drove us around town and showed us the sights. We stopped by their house to visit for a while and meet their two cats. Then we were off again to find dinner. We ate at a nice barbecue place. The food was really good. Nothing like some good Texas barbecue.

After dinner, the Dorseys dropped us back at the trailer and came in to visit for a while longer before heading home. It was nice being carted around and shown the sights.

The license plate hunt reflected our change of highways from an east-west route to a north-south route, as well as it being a shorter trip. Most of our plates were from the central states. Only 19 of 51 plates found today.

  1. We had a great time, glad you enjoyed it! Our “sightseeing” wasn’t much to look at, but the visit was great. Soulman’s BBQ is where we ate. They know how to load it up! Thanks again for detouring to come and visit! Safe travels!
