Current Location: Fort Wilderness Campground, Bay Lake, Florida (Disney)
We’ve about worn ourselves out the last couple of days, so Malcolm hasn’t put up a blog post for a bit. This one serves to catch us up to date.
Thursday, we went to Magic Kingdom. The weather was overcast but fairly warm. Malcolm and David rode the fast rides while Val wandered through the shops and enjoyed herself. Shortly after lunch it started raining. We ducked into the nearest shop and purchased rain ponchos which we needed off and on for the next couple hours. Meanwhile, we availed ourselves to inside rides or rides under cover.
The rain subsided later in the evening and we ate dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern, where the food was served family style. It was all delicious. Dinner was over and we were leaving just as the fireworks were starting. Given the huge crowd already assembled, we went ahead and headed toward the front to clear our locker and beat the better part of the rush of people.
Friday, we went to Magic Kingdom again. This time, we planned our FastPasses well. Malcolm and David got passes for the rides they wanted to ride. Valerie got hers to visit several of the Disney princesses and get autographs and pictures for two books she is putting together for our granddaughters.
We left the Magic Kingdom mid-afternoon, dropped stuff off at the trailer, then headed to Downtown Disney to the AMC Theatre there for dinner and a movie. We watched the movie “Frozen” and ate dinner right there in the theater. The food was great and it was nice just leaning back in your chair after eating and enjoying the movie.
Today, we went to Epcot for our final day. Malcolm and David rode a couple rides and we all rode a couple others. We spent most of the day walking the loop around all the countries. Fish and Chips in Great Britain was the lunch of the day. Val and David watched a band playing for a little while before we left while Malcolm ran to the locker to drop off and pick up stuff. We decided just to go ahead and leave mid-afternoon.
We headed back to the trailer and relaxed for a bit, then back out to the buses since we had 6:15 dinner reservations over in Downtown Disney to meet our friends Heather and Nigel (who originally lived near us in Alabama and now live down here in Florida). They also brought their son along. We ate at Paradiso 37. The food was great and we had a fun time catching up.
Just before we left, it started raining, but then stopped. We decided to make a break while the weather was good. We only got around the corner before the rain started back up in earnest. We ducked under some cover and waited out the major portion of the rain, then made our way to the bus stop, getting fairly wet and cold in the process. Once we got back to the campground, the rain had passed, so we made our way back to the trailer and warm clothing.
Tomorrow morning we hook up and head out on our way to Tampa. David is driving back home (he followed us down in his car) as he has an Air Force meeting on Monday.
