Hospital Day

Current Location: Fort Toulouse Campground, Wetumpka, Alabama

This morning we headed out about 8:30 am to Jackson Hospital in Montgomery for Val’s surgery. They took us both back to a room where they checked vital signs and gave Val a gown to wear. Pastor Hansen and one of the men from church stopped by to visit. After a while, they sent Malcolm out and took Val for her surgery, at about 10:30 am.

Malcolm had lunch at the hospital cafeteria and then caught up on his magazine reading and YouTube viewing on his iPad. He logged into work a couple times to answer questions and check emails. Around 2:00 pm, the hospital staff called Malcolm back where he found Val awake and recovering from surgery. Everything went great. While we were waiting for the OK to leave, our friend Steve Milton stopped by for a few minutes to see how things were going.

By about 3:30 pm, we were heading back to the trailer. Malcolm got Val settled in and headed to the house to take the garbage can in, look for some NyQuil for his cold and to grab the mail. He stopped by WalMart on the way back to get some chicken soup, NyQuil capsules and some more new blue jeans that he has been needing.

Another quick trip out to retrieve a Frosty from Wendys for Val and dinner for Malcolm and we settled in for the evening. Malcolm is going to stay home tomorrow and work, as the doctor recommended someone be around to assist Val for at least the next 24 hours.
