Current Location: Alamo River Ranch Resort, Von Ormy (San Antonio), Texas
On Tuesday, we headed out to The Shoppes at La Cantera. It was a nice outdoor mall with lots of shops, some of them fairly spendy. Malcolm found a nice pair of deck shoes that he has been wanting to get. We found a couple other things we needed but mostly walked around. We ate lunch at the Kona Grill. It was pretty good food.
After walking around the mall, we headed back to the trailer for a while. Malcolm took care of a couple things around the trailer, then we decided to head to WalMart to pick up a couple grocery items we forgot on Monday. We also picked up a few things Malcolm wanted to get for the trailer (cleaning supplies). The rest of Tuesday was mainly a relaxing day.
Today, we headed downtown to the San Antonio riverwalk. We walked down the river a bit, then back to where we started to have an excellent lunch at Casa Rio. We walked down the river a bit more, then headed back up to street level and walked over to The Alamo to visit there. We walked around the Riverwalk Mall after that, then headed back to the truck.
On the way back to the trailer, we stopped by the Ford dealer. Texas requires any vehicle with dual rear wheels to have mudflaps on the rear. While we have our Rock Tamers flaps that mount in the rear hitch receiver when we are towing, we put them in the bed of the truck otherwise, since they tend to reach out and grab knees and shins. We got the molded rear flaps from Ford and Malcolm mounted them to the truck after we got home.
After the Ford dealer, we stopped by Sheplar’s western wear store. It was huge. Malcolm found a shirt and hat, Val bought a gift and we picked up a couple funny birthday cards for our stash.
After dinner, Malcolm wandered over and met the owner of the horses here at the campground. Our son David’s friend Kyle got here after dinner. He is in the Air Force and flew in to see David graduate along with us.
