Rally Day 1

Current Location: Gulf State Park, Gulf Shores, Alabama

Today we got out and rode our bikes around the park for a bit and visited with a few of the rally attendees. Malcolm got the ladder out and cleaned bugs off the front cap of the trailer. He was trying to do it early enough to beat the heat, but he was too late. We gathered ourselves up and headed out for a day of shopping.

We headed up the road towards the outlet mall, but it was nearly lunch time, so we swung into Lambert’s Cafe and had lunch there. After lunch, we drove 0n up to the Tanger Outlets and shopped for a while. We each picked up new running (actually, we’ll probably walk in them) shoes and a few items of clothing. On the way back, we stopped at another shopping center and Val shopped for clothes while Malcolm wandered around the stores.

Back down the road, we stopped by the souvenir shop where Malcolm wanted to buy a kite. It had been years since he had last flown one and was starting to get the itch to do it again. We also drove across the street to the ABC store as Malcolm had run out of Margarita mix. Then, we headed back to the trailer.

We had dinner at home, then went over to the activity center with all the other rally goers where we had the opening evening get-together and ice cream social. There are two or three couples who are here for their first rally. It was a great time to meet each other and share some delicious ice cream. Here are a few pictures from this evening.
