Out of Kentucky

Current Location: Misty Mountain Camp Resort, Greenwood, Virginia

This morning we got up a little later than we wanted to and broke camp at the Horse Park. We had a long drive ahead of us all the way to near Charlottesville, Virginia (ended up being 415 miles). We dumped our tanks at the Horse Park and hit the road around 8:15 AM. We ended up getting here about 4:45 PM, which wasn’t too bad.

We took I-64 all the way, which takes you down the West Virginia Turnpike. We stopped for lunch at Tamarack, which touts itself as The Best of West Virginia. There are a lot of handmade crafts, etc. We picked up a t-shirt, a couple postcards and a gift while we were there. We also had a picnic lunch out in the parking lot.

We fueled up both vehicles (we still have David’s car with us) while we were there then headed on east. There were lots of hills, mountains and scenic views along the way. The truck pulled the hills great. We’re glad we upgraded last year when we did.

We got set up here and relaxed for a bit before heading into downtown Charlottesville and eating dinner at Mellow Mushroom. We had brought the whole family through here on vacation in May of 2003, so it was fun seeing the town again.
