Another catch-up post, since we haven’t posted since Saturday.

On Sunday, we attended church at Christ Church PCA in Katy, Texas. We’ve been there a couple times in the past. A couple folks remember us people that live in the RV. It’s a very welcoming church and we enjoy our visits there when we are in the Houston area.

Malcolm got a little energetic on Sunday afternoon and decided to start tearing out the two carpeted steps heading up to the bedroom and replacing them with new treads in the same fashion we re-did the step heading up to the kitchen. We purchased appropriate materials at Lowes, including new stair treads (the same 5/8 x 12 x 48 particle board we used on the kitchen step). The hardest part was the curve around the wall on the second step up.

We still have some cleanup work on the trim. Also, the curved section on the second step is going to need some flexible trim which we will have to order, stain and install. We will probably do that while we are in Nashville (for three weeks) so it can be shipped to the office there. We will continue with flooring work while we are there, as well. We are replacing the hall and bedroom carpet with more vinyl plank (we have 3 1/2 boxes in the back of the truck) and the bathroom linoleum with the same tiles we put in the kitchen (still have 2/3 of a box of those).

On Monday, Malcolm headed to work at the Houston office. Things are still a bit slow, but he is at least working and earning money. We suspect things will pick up when we are back in Nashville. The office here is just close enough that Malcolm can head home for lunch. Since this is just a four-day stint, we haven’t bothered renting a car. Monday evening was spent finishing up some minor trim work on the steps.

On Tuesday, Malcolm again went to work for the day, taking a longer lunch so we could run some paperwork to the bank to get it notarized. The paperwork is for Val’s Mom’s estate close out. We got that done and dropped it in the mail. Thanks to Chase bank for notarizing it free. We don’t have savings or checking accounts there, but we do carry a couple Chase credit cards.

Tuesday evening we went to Target and bought a six cube shelf unit to help organize things under the desk. We also stopped by Michael’s Arts and Crafts where Val picked up a few organizing containers. Once back at the trailer we started dinner cooking. A good thunderstorm rolled through while Malcolm put the shelf unit together. After dinner, we finished up the construction and did some organizing. We still have a few things in the trailer that will eventually be dispatched to others or put back into storage, but today’s organizational effort helped to reduce the clutter a bit.
