Current Location: Lake Chelan State Park, Chelan, Washington
Yesterday, we loaded up in the car and headed into Chelan to visit with family friends staying at the hotel there on the lake. The girls went swimming in the pool. Val and Malcolm headed into town to ship a couple boxes and stop by the store. After a little shopping we decided to stay in town for lunch before heading back to the hotel to join the others.
We spent the afternoon enjoying talking, swimming in the pool or swimming in the lake. Malcolm took his new float into the lake and relaxed for a while. We just generally had a great time. We pitched in and bought pizza for dinner and also walked around the farmers’ market in downtown Chelan. Malcolm picked up some peaches and we bought some really tasty homemade bread.
After a full day of swimming, eating and visiting, we headed back to the campground and had an ice cream dessert.
This morning, we went hiking around the campground a bit so that the girls could go letter-boxing. Letter-boxing is like geocaching, but you find a hidden container that has a rubber stamp and a book inside. You bring your own rubber stamp, stamp pad and book along with you. When you find the container, you stamp the container’s book with your stamp and your book with the container’s stamp. The girls have quite a few stamps in their book. This looks like something that we might start doing, as well.
After our hike, we headed back over to Chelan and ate lunch at the Lakeview Drive-In, a favorite of many in the area. They have great hamburgers, tasty fries and the best milkshakes. Once we were done with lunch, we headed back over to the hotel to hang around for a while. The girls went swimming in the pool and Malcolm floated around the lake on his float for a while.
We headed back to the campground somewhat early in the afternoon as the girls were getting tired. They took a nap this afternoon, as did their mother and Malcolm, as well. We ate spaghetti for dinner and visited with Cole’s brother, Benno and his family who arrived this evening to go camping here, too. Some of their friends set their tent up behind our trailer.
