First of all, here are a few late arrival pictures from yesterday, our last day at Lake Chelan.
This morning, we awoke early to thunder. Some decent thunderstorms rolled through early in the morning and the power went out. It was out for a couple hours, but came back on as we were up and stirring around. Tea and coffee were fixed on various gas stoves and swapped between trailers.
The rain quit by around 8:15 or so. Malcolm had started final breakdown activities outside just as it was subsiding. We were all hooked up and ready to roll and Cole wasn’t far behind in getting their trailer ready to go. We pulled out of the campground around 8:45 AM. Shortly after we got on the road we ran into more rain, though it wasn’t too heavy.
We followed Elizabeth and Cole for a while until we got stuck behind a slow vehicle that we didn’t get a chance to pass for quite a while (two-lane road and they were going slow). Eventually, Cole and Elizabeth had a several mile lead on us, which was fine. We knew pretty much where we were going and they could text back to us to advise us on traffic conditions as we got closer to Seattle. We stopped to eat a light lunch just 20 miles or so from our destination, which gave them time to arrive here and set up before we got here.
By the way, “here” is Cole’s grandparents’ home on the Puget Sound. We’ve been here a few times before, but never with our fifth wheel. It took a while to maneuver it down the driveway into position, but we made it. We are hooked up to a 15 amp circuit (extension cord) and water. Fortunately, the weather is cooler here, so we generally won’t miss the air conditioners.
Cole cooked dinner for us after we got settled in, and we visited with his grandparents for a bit in their home. It threatened to rain a little after we arrived, but cleared up somewhat before we headed to our trailers to settle in for the night.
