We’ve been lax this week in updating the blog, so here’s a fairly quick recap of this week.
Malcolm headed back to work on Wednesday morning, which also happened to be his birthday (55). Val rode the shuttle downtown in the afternoon and met Malcolm at the office. We headed downtown to find a place for birthday dinner and ended up at the Spaghetti Factory. We stopped by Kroger and picked up a small birthday cake and some ice cream before heading back to the trailer.
Thursday and Friday were typical days with Malcolm working and Val doing laundry, shopping and other errands. On Friday, Val started the process of sorting through everything in the trailer and getting rid of things we don’t use or need.
This morning, Malcolm joined in the quest as we covered the entire inside of the trailer followed by emptying, sorting, cleaning and repacking the basement. We had a fair amount of stuff in the back of the truck by lunch time. Malcolm had just closed everything up outside and headed in for lunch when the rain let loose.
Some other small items got taken care of today, as well. Malcolm stained the flexible quarter round molding that we need to complete our flooring trim out.
Malcolm also finished putting Command Strips on the bottoms of the remaining horse statues that go on the shelves in the bedroom. (He had supervision during the process).
After debating on various methods of allowing us to walk across the perpetually muddy patch between our patio and the rear of the trailer, Malcolm decided to take some more of the horse stall mat and make eight more jack pads. We’re now using them as portable stepping stones.
Happy birthday Malcolm! John’s was the day before yours. LOL
Excellent idea for use of your extra landing pads. Last year the family stayed at a local State Park and had to use cardboard over a mud covered walkway. I was thinking about buying a few plastic stepping stones that could be washed, stored away and did not weigh much. But using something that is dual purpose makes sense.
