Air Show and Rain

Current Location: Pineglen RV Park, Panama City Beach, Florida

Saturday morning, we donned our rain gear and headed to the air show at Tyndall Air Force Base. David was working when we got there, so we wandered around the booths and waited for the show to start. A couple planes got to fly before the skies opened up and let down a torrent of rain. There was some thunder and lightning thrown in for good measure.

The weather finally subsided and everyone came out from under shelter. David got off work and walked down to meet us and to grab some lunch. We walked around with him a while, watched a couple more planes fly before it started raining again. We decided to leave since the show was being repeated on Sunday and the weather looked like it would be better then.

David headed to his dorm and we headed back to the trailer to cook dinner for David and several of his Air Force buddies. Of course, the sun was shining by the time we got back to the trailer. This is Florida, after all. We had a great dinner – hot browns and “Kentucky Pie” (can’t use the “D” word due to copyright issues).

This morning we arose to the sound of light rain. We donned our rain gear again and headed to the base. David was off work today so he drove over and met us and we all rode the shuttle bus over to the air show. Fortunately, the rain subsided today and never really came back (except for a stray drop or two). We enjoyed the air show with David, staying all the way until the end. We got to see the Thunderbirds fly. Malcolm got lots of great pictures. Several are included, below.

After the show, we took David to Sonny’s Bar-B-Que for dinner, then dropped him off at his dorm and headed back to the trailer ourselves. Even though it was cloudy today, Val and David both got some sunburn. We all got a lot of sun.

Tomorrow morning we hitch up and head back up to Alabama for a week so Malcolm can work a few more days, then on to Kentucky.

  1. Val & Malcolm,
What a fantastic day at the air show with David. An air show like the one you attended is on my bucket list. Stay safe keep traveling and sharing it’s appreciated.

  2. Kirk, thank you for the nice comments! I’ll keep on Malcolm to keep sharing! We did have an awesome weekend with David though David and I both got sunburned on a very cloudy day…the tops of D’s feet (he was wearing flip flops) and my face.
