Current Location: Belvidere East / Exit 170 KOA, Midland, South Dakota
We rolled out of Buffalo this morning around 8:00 and headed east on I-90 into South Dakota. It was a blustery drive which was reflected in our fuel usage (around 8 mpg, typically close to 10). The weather was nice otherwise, though, with sunny skies and temperatures in the 80’s. Various pictures en route:
On the way through South Dakota, we decided to stop and see what Wall Drug Store was all about. It was an interesting stop, but typical large rambling store with a lot of touristy items. We did pick up a few things like obligatory postcards and a t-shirt for our quilt. We also each got a milkshake to take along with us.
As we traveled on east from Wall, we started seeing signs for 1880 Town. It turns out it is located at the same exit as our KOA. After we got the rig set up, we headed over there after putting fuel in the truck. We ended up doing the self-guided tour. There is a lot of history there. The whole place is a labor of love and a giant collection of history and historical buildings. Even though it is pretty much off-season, it was still fun to wander around.
