Current Location: Rustic Sands Resort Campground, Mexico Beach, Florida
Yesterday (Thursday), we packed up in Alabama and traveled down to the Panama City, Florida area to visit our son for a couple days. We usually stay at PineGlen campground in Panama City Beach, but they didn’t have any sites available. We decided to try Rustic Sands over here in Mexico Beach, instead. So far, it seems pretty nice. It is a closer drive to the Air Force base by a couple miles, but much closer time-wise. There are pretty much no traffic lights between here and the base.
Once we got set up, David came over for dinner. Since what we had to fix for three was still frozen, we headed up the road to a local pizza place. The pizza was great. Malcolm and David shared a large pizza and brought about 1/4 of it back to the trailer. David visited until he had to leave for work (working 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM shifts). After work this morning he came back over to the trailer and is currently sleeping on the couch.
The main reason we came down to visit for a couple days is to attend a Thanksgiving pitch-in lunch at the base. We went last year and had a great time meeting some of David’s fellow Air Force friends and leaders. After lunch, we’ll hang out here the rest of the day. Over the weekend, we’re heading to Texas to hopefully take care of putting license plates on the truck and trailer. From there, it is back this direction for Thanksgiving.
If you get a chance, check out the little bar Killer Seafood. They have wonderful fish tacos.
Mexico Beach is a wonderful place and you don’t have all the traffic of Panama City.
Win would love to move down there someday.
